Data Science Bootcamp in DC for undergrads – Summer 2025
The Department of Statistics at The George Washington University (GWU) is hosting a four-week Data Science Bootcamp from May 19 to June 13, 2025. Applications are now open to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
Duration: 4 weeks (May 19 - June 13, 2025), including a project showcase on September 6, 2025.
Format: In-person at the GWU campus, with structured workshops, group projects, and guest lectures.
Application Deadline: January 20, 2025.
Target Enrollment: The program aims to accept 20 students for the bootcamp.
Scholarships: The program offers a $2,000 stipend to each accepted student who completes the full four-week program, funded by an award from the Public Interest Technology (PIT) University Network program of New America. Room and board are not provided.
This immersive program aims to equip undergraduate students with essential data science skills to address pressing health equity and climate resilience issues. The curriculum focuses on building statistical thinking, navigating computing environments, completing hands-on projects with open health and climate data, advancing professional development, and engaging with expert guest lectures.
The program is led by GW faculty, Drs. Tatiyana Apanasovich (lead PI), Huixia Judy Wang(PI), and Fang Jin, in collaboration with Trinity Washington University (Dr. Kerry Luse and Dr. Kaitlin Wellens) and the University of the District of Columbia (Dr. Dong Hyun Jeong).
